  • Harvest celebrations

    Tue 17 Oct 2023

Harvest celebrations at St. Joseph’s Broadstairs.

The end of a glorious Indian summer was celebrated this week with our annual Harvest Festival, where pupils mark the end of the growing season and give thanks for a bountiful summer.  It is also time when our pupils remember those members of our local community who are not as fortunate by bringing in contributions of food which will be sent to our local food bank at St. Austen and St. Gregory in Margate.

As well as celebrating we also reflected on the links we have with our own Parish Church, Our Lady Star of the Sea by hosting a harvest tea for the elderly of the parish.  An afternoon tea of sandwiches, scones and cakes was provided for around 30 parishioners and older members of our community, all served by our Year 6 pupils.  Entertainment was provided by each year group who had prepared special songs.

Our Harvest Festival is always an opportune time within school to reflect on what we have, and the need for generosity and compassion for those who are unable to share in this fruitful season.

  • 1st place success for Eva

    Tue 10 Oct 2023

A bright sunny Saturday morning saw the first Cross Country event of the school calendar at Quex Park last weekend.  24 students across KS2 represented St. Joseph’s in this event and they all ran extremely well, with a standout performance from Year 6 pupil Eva Edwards   who finished 1st in a race with over 100 other girls.  What a fantastic achievement!.  It’s so rewarding to see the children trying their very best when representing the school, and most importantly, doing it with a smile on their face.  We hope this success continues and students keep enjoying their sport.

Well done Eva and to everyone who took part.

  • A decade of The Rosary

    Mon 09 Oct 2023

Each day during the month of October, we are praying a decade of the rosary together. We think of a different intention each day.

The Chaplaincy team are making simple rosary bracelets to give to all the children throughout the month.

  • Children raise money for Macmillan

    Tue 03 Oct 2023

Friday 29th September saw our first Charity event of the year when Lydia from Year 6 and her Mum Amanda organised a school cake sale for Macmillan Cancer Care.  Children were invited to dress in Green for the day and donate either cakes for the after school sale, or a monetary contribution.  Through the generosity of our parents and children we raised a total of £260 for this deserving charity.  Thank you to everyone who made the event a huge success.
