Meeting with Canon Victor

It was such a pleasure to join with our partner schools, St Mary's Whitstable and St Gregory's Margate to meet with Father Victor Darlington, who is the Episcopal Vicar for the South-East Area of the Archdiocese of Southwark. This was an opportunity to talk about our Catholic life in school and share the work we do with our children.

Fr Victor was appointed Episcopal Vicar of the Commission for Promoting Racial Justice and Cultural Inclusion in the Archdiocese, and as one of the presiding Deans of the South East area.

For many years now, Fr Victor has worked to tackle the scourge of knife crime on the streets of London. He has championed a range of community initiatives to support victims and to prevent young people, especially those from deprived backgrounds from being involved in gangs and violence. He has also worked on different parish-based and community projects aimed at de-escalating racism tensions and supporting diversity and equality through the lens of the gospel

Celebrating Harvest

We felt so lucky to be joined by Father Daniel and our local community to celebrate harvest.

It is also time when our children remember those members of our local community who are not as fortunate by bringing in contributions of food which will be sent to our local food bank at St. Austen and St. Gregory in Margate.

As well as celebrating we also reflected on the links we have with our own Parish Church, Our Lady Star of the Sea by hosting a harvest tea for the elderly of the parish.  An afternoon tea of sandwiches, scones and cakes was provided for around 30 parishioners and older members of our community, all served by our Year 6 pupils.  Entertainment was provided by each year group who had prepared special songs.

Our Harvest Festival is always an opportune time within school to reflect on what we have, and the need for generosity and compassion for those who are unable to share in this fruitful season.

KCSP Beginning of Year Mass

Our wonderful Chaplaincy Team joined all the other schools in our trust family to attend the KCSP Beginning of Year Mass at Aylesford Priory.

It was lovely to be able to take part in the mass and reflect on our journey together as KCSP schools. The children joined in with the hymns and prayers and were wonderful representatives of our school.

The Crowning of Mary

What a wonderful way to start a beautiful Wednesday morning!

The sun shone brightly on us on on this lovely May day, whilst we held our open air Crowning of Mary Service.

The children all gathered in the school playground to honour Our Lady Mary. They were invited to bring a flower to school so that we could decorate our prayer corners.  Flowers were brought in abundance and proudly presented to Our Lady during the service.  The children were also able to bring along their own Rosaries for the celebration.

Our service began with the hymn Beautiful World, followed by readings by Harry and Finlay.  Mr. Kirk led the children in prayer before Amber and Eliza were then invited to crown Our lady with the beautiful crown of fresh flowers.

During the singing of Immaculate Mary, representatives from each class then presented their flowers to Our Lady Mary.  Mr. Pasola then invited Anna to read the fifth glorious mystery ‘The Coronation of Mary’. Mr. Kirk closed the service and we sang our final hymn ‘Hail Holy Queen’.

What a lovely celebration of Our Lady that we will always remember.
