  • St. Joseph's got Talent!

    Thu 20 Jul 2023

The final week of term saw our Year 6 children perform their much-anticipated variety show "St. Joseph's Got Talent!"

They entertained the whole of the school from Reception to Year 5 in the morning and performed a gala show to their parents in the evening.

The children wrote and arranged the show themselves and were wonderfully supported in this by their teacher Mrs. Sproates, and Teaching Assistant Mrs. Hall.  The acts on show ranged from dances to singing, fitness demonstrations to comedy acts.  The wonderful compere for the extravaganza Dempsey, welcomed 15 acts to the stage where they performed to rapturous applause.  The special acts were started and ended with special choral perfomances by the children to well known hits from 'The Greatest Showman' and 'Six'.  The lyrics were specially written by Mrs. Sproates to reflect the children's journey in primary school and their anticipation for the next part of the academic journey.

  • If you go down to the woods today..........

    Wed 19 Jul 2023

For their end of year outing, Years 3 and 4 from St. Joseph’s Catholic Primary School had a fun day out at the Creed Outdoor Learning Centre in Teynham near Faversham.

The day began with a train journey and then a short walk through open pastures looking at farm animals before arriving at Millennium Woods for their exciting day of adventure.

Led by instructors from the Centre, children took part in many activities that they had never tried before including Archery, High Ropes, Team Building, Bush Craft (shelter building and fire laying), Low ropes, Obstacle course and climbing.  Tackling their fears some children set themselves personal challenges and learnt new skills.

Despite the inclement weather they all had an excellent time and enjoyed every activity with enthusiasm, energy and determination.

Year 3 teacher Shimona Sandwell explained “It’s wonderful seeing how our children have adapted to physical and problem-solving activities during our visit.  Every child has thrown themselves into each session with a smile.  We love that they were able to experience something unique as an end of term trip and that they could bring back their personal achievements to school”

Year 3 pupil Ted said about his day  “It was really good.  I enjoyed the climbing wall most and I was so proud to reach the top.  It was a really great day – the best school trip ever!”

Alana from Year 4 added “I enjoyed the rope and pole climbing activity the best – It was good fun to challenge myself.  The day was amazing fun”.
