  • Caribbean Capers

    Wed 17 Nov 2021

This week our Year 5 and Year 6 children were treated to a compelling storytelling performance by Jan Blake at the Children's Bookshow at the Theatre Royal in Margate.  57 children were captivated by Jan's unique and unforgettable stories and songs of love and family from the vibrant Caribbean.  Jan Blake is one of Europe's leading female storytellers and has been telling stories to adults, teenagers and children around the world since 1986.

Every child left the theatre with a free copy of 'Tales from the Caribbean' by Trish Cooke to take home and keep.

We were so fortunate that whilst in the area, Jan came to our school the day after her performance to treat our Year 5's to a special story telling workshop.  What a fantastic opportunity and an invaluable experience for our children.

  • St. Joseph's Remembers the fallen

    Fri 12 Nov 2021

On Thursday 11th November at 11 am the whole school fell silent for two minutes at a special Remembrance Assembly held in honour of all those who have lost their lives in the two world wars and all those who have died in combat.  Some of our children came to school proudly wearing their Beavers and Cubs Uniforms to pay tribute to the fallen.

  • Football Festival Fortune

    Fri 12 Nov 2021

St Joseph’s put in a fantastic performance at the Football Festival played at Margate Football Club this week. Despite it only being a friendly tournament, the fact that this mixed Year 3/4 team didn’t concede a single goal should be celebrated. A solid performance with some great goals gave us the following results in our 4 matches: 0-0, 3-0, 3-0, 2-0.  A huge well done to everyone who took part and thank you to all the parent and grandparents that came to watch and cheer the children on.

  • Thanet Passport Netball Tournament

    Mon 08 Nov 2021

Our newly formed St. Joseph’s team played brilliantly, winning two of their three goals to be in contention for 3rd place against 6 other teams. After a tough but St Joseph’s dominated game, a goal from Harry B secured 3rd place for the team. I would like to thank all who played extremely well and proudly represented our school after only 5 weeks playing as a team.

  • Speed Stacking Tournament

    Mon 08 Nov 2021

The annual speed stacking tournaments at St George’s was a wonderful afternoon for all who attended. Sadly, our Year 5/6 team were one short but the rest of the team made up for that straight away when Oscar scored the fastest time on the first stack.

The children progressed through the 3-3-3, 3-6-3 and then onto the cycle stack. A gruelling challenge of stacking and down stacking six different stacks in the correct order and returning all the cups to their original positions. The challenge of one minute was totally smashed by Teagan who managed all of it in 38 seconds!

The two teams who entered all received medals for either second place (Year 5-6) or third place (Year 3-4).

A massive well done to all involved.
