  • Space......the final frontier

    Mon 16 Jan 2023

Role play is fantastic for development in so many areas of the EYFS including communication and language, personal, social and emotional and understanding the world. Commonly the role play area involves a home corner with a play kitchen furniture, plastic or wooden food and cooking accessories such as pots, pans and plates. These are based on many of the typical home experiences children will have and allows them to explore their own cultures, however, there are many exciting things that the role play corner can become. By changing the home corner into something else, it can allow children to extend their learning and understanding of many different aspects of society, occupations and culture. This half term in Year R we decided to enhance our outdoor role play area to fit our new Topic of Space so we turned it into a spectacular space station. The children have thoroughly enjoyed this new experience and are learning so much in the process.

  • Year R are on a moon mission

    Tue 10 Jan 2023

A short week but still filled with lots of fun and new learning in Year R. New term means new topics and new stories. Our new story this half term is ‘Whatever Next’ a story all about a bear who travels to the Moon!
After lunch we found baby bear in our classroom and joined him for a picnic on the Moon 🌙. We then wrote lists of items we would take to the Moon and enjoyed looking at some of our new space topic books. Next week we will be learning our story in more detail, making our class story map and opening our outdoor spaceship role play area. Stay tuned for next weeks adventures
