Girls Football Training Session

On Wednesday, our Year 5 and 6 Girls Football Team took part of in the World’s biggest ever girls football training session with schools all over the country taking part. We joined over 100 other girls at Ramsgate Football Club for our local event.

The afternoon started with a few friendly matches. Our girls worked hard an despite not letting in a single goal, they didn’t manage to score for the first few games.

In between matches we had a few tasks to complete including naming all the countries taking part in the UEFA Woman’s European Football Championship this Summer, right here in England. The girls had to identify the countries by their flags and despite a small Scandinavian debate, managed it admirably.

The other task the girls had to complete was to come up with their own team name and goal celebration. After a few ideas were shared, the girls decided on three different celebrations.

After a great skills session alongside St George’s we returned to the pitch for the final two matches. Palm Bay have been a very strong contender in every sports event recently but St Joseph’s girls defeated them 4:0 after winning an early penalty.

Our final match against Chilton, was even more challenging but still resulted in a 1:0 victory for St Joseph’s.

Final results were 3 draws and 2 wins with 5 goals scored and 0 conceded. Well done girls!
