Sports Week - The Story so far...

Well, the start of the week couldn't have looked worse weather wise with heavy showers forcing our first tournament event to be rescheduled to Friday morning.

Children did all get the opportunity to learn some Panna (Urban Football) skills with Yofi and Jacobo from the Yo Street Zone in the rain along with some professional tennis coaching with Gabriel from Broadstairs and St. Peter's Lawn Tennis Association.

The heavy rain did not dampen the spirits of children or coaches and there were many happy (but soggy) faces.

Tuesday promised better weather but our coaches were taking no chances, bringing along waterproofs just in case.

Yofi, Jacobo and Gabriel returned to further develop the skills the children had been taught the previous day.  Thankfully the rain was only very minor and had all but dried up by lunchtime.

After lunch, the first tournament could now take place.  Inter-house hockey between Year 3 and Year 4.  Following Covid guidelines, Years 5 and 6 provided a fantastic audience, complete with banners and cheerleading.  Highlights from the seven matches included a double hat trick from Benjamin in Year 3, leading his purpose team to second place while the winning Year 4 team, also purple, scooped the trophy, catapulting the purpose house into first place for house points.  Every child in both classes really gave it their all and everyone had a wonderful afternoon.
