Science Week - Colour Chemistry

On Wednesday of Science week we investigated the pH level of a variety of household items.  We used indicator paper and red cabbage water to test the items and compared the test strips to the guide in order to determine whether the item was acid or alkali.

We then carried out a chromatography test, we placed a dot of felt tip ink on to the middle of a piece of filter paper and then added droplets of water.  We watched as the ink separated into the different colour pigmets.
