Ash Wednesday

Children from Years 2 to Year 6 attended Ash Wednesday Mass at Our Lady Star of the Sea on 5th March and had their foreheads blessed with ashes by Father Daniel as a reminder that we need to repent.   Following Mass Father Daniel very kindly came to school to explain to our Reception and Year 1 children all about Ash Wednesday, what it means, where the ash comes from and why we are blessed with the sign of the cross on our foreheads. He brought palms and palm crosses which were passed around the class before inviting the children to be blessed with the holy ash.
