Aim high achieve together

Year 5

Wellbeing Day

In Year 5 we have been discussing the school's value of Belonging. We all belong to St Joseph's either as children, adults or the wider community. St Joseph's belongs to us.....so we painted it. Watercolours all the way.

Rainforest Workout

As part of our geography work on rainforests we enjoyed a rainforest themed workout – we did stretches and movements as snakes, lions, tortoises, parrots and alligators, our favourite was the giraffe.

Drama work in September

Year 5 have been using their acting skills to present scenes called “Amanda Thripp’s revenge.” They have improvised and presented shorts pieces of drama using empathy and emotion to demonstrate a characters imagined revenge on a cruel and heartless teacher.

As part of our work reading our class book “Matilda” this term we have carried out some role play and drama.

The children chose either to hold Mr Wormwood to account in a court over his “dodgy car dealings” or interview the Wormwood family about the “goings-on” at their car dealership.

The skills they demonstrated were teamwork, public speaking, acting and empathy. We had lots of fun putting ourselves into the place of the characters.
